Happy. New. Year.

Here we are in 2012.  One year later after starting my very first blog.  I'm so glad I started this, giving me an outlet to speak my mind and share my fun stories with all of you. Thank you for being here with me and for following along.

Now, for a quick recap of my NYE weekend...

Seven friends and I headed to Winter Park, Colorado after renting a house on VRBO for the weekend.  Kara came up with this great idea this Summer when of course no one in their right mind is thinking about  their NYE plans, and got an AMAZING deal!

We got our fill of Catch Phrase, Jenga, Guesstures, beer pong, and card games.  So all and all A LOT of celebrating and caching up.  The whole weekend overall was a huge success.  Low key and a blast!

I hope you all had a great New Years and wishing you all the luck in the world in 2012!

New York! New York!

So these posts have been a little backwards to where the heck I've been for two weeks.  But I forgot that I took these pictures when I was visiting NYC with my new co-workers during our free weekend while we were at training.

With my last trip to NYC being somewhat taken over by that false alarm of a hurricane (Irene) and not being able to see Times Square, I knew I HAD to see it while I was in NYC for a second time. Obviously there is a lot build up around Times Square and how great it is yada, yada, yada. I had this idea in my head something fabulous was going to happen when we were there, like see ANOTHER (ha) actor/actress.  Nope we didn't. But I will say this.... it looked AWESOME. Just being there I felt the energy of all the tourists and the true New Yorkers.  I probably won't be back there for a while now that I've seen it, but I would recommend you at least stop by for a few candid photos if you make it to NYC in the future. It's worth the trip.

Welp, that's all for tonight folks.  My first night our in Denver, gotta make it a good one!

Giddy Up!

Remember how I said I had quite the busy past few weeks? Part of this was due to horseback riding in Estes Park with my friend Kara, her BF Chad, and Walter (my BF).

We saw a pretty good deal on Groupon a while back and thought it would be fun to mix it up and do something outdoorsy once Walt and I moved to Denver.  Little did I know when we planned this weekend that I'd be hot off my training session and not moved into my place.... That freak out moment aside when I realized all of that, it was a great decision to go horseback riding! It was peaceful (other than the horses taking enormous poops while walking on a skinny trail), and beautiful.

Kara even went the extra mile to reserve a cute little cottage for us to stay in for the night that was right up the street from The River Rocks Lodge (you may remember this hotel from "The Shining"), where we went to look around and have a  drink just to say we went there :)

Now onto my favorite part. The pictures!

Notice anything strange with this picture???

Best Night... EVER!

To preface this, you are really not going to find this post interesting at all unless you A) Watch "True Blood" on HBO B) Know who Alexander Skarsgard is.

So if that applies to YOU. Hollar at a girl when she gets to actually be at the SAME party AND take a picture with Alexander Skarsgard!

Long story short, on my mini trip to NYC with my new co-workers during my training we went to a long dinner and didn't get out until about 11-12 at night. With the night young (for New Yorkers apparently) we met up with my friend/co-workers friend who lives in the city.  We met her after a forever cab ride (at least it felt like forever) at at small bar.  None of us had ever heard of it but went with the flow.  We walk upstairs to find there are about 20-25 people at this "bar" which we come to find is just a small party where people are singing karaoke.  I head into the bathroom to freshen up to then walk out and have my friends tell me "ERIC NORTHMAN IS HERE."  My friend Mal, who is just as obsessed with the show and HIM as I am, drops this huge bomb on me and I literally about peed my pants.  My other friend had to tell me to calm the heck down so I didn't seem like a freak. All I wanted to do when I went to NYC was to SEE an actor/actress, and there was one about 5 feet from me. WHATTTTT!!!!

Ok I said long story short... so here goes the short.  Basically with there only being 20ish people there Mal and I felt simply walking up to Alexander would be weird and draw too much attention and possibly get us kicked out.  So we opted for our other option.  Ballet and spas dance 10 ft from him to get his attention.  Yes I just said that, and yes we did that. I'm a dork and will do just about anything to have a good time especially when it involves getting an actors attention.  I'm definitely not discrete by any means :)

Mal wanted to go outside for a minute and I told her I'd go with her to then see Alexander and his posse leaving the bar.  This was our chance! We followed them out (since we were already going out there... wink wink), to find paparazzi taking pictures of him.  Dang it. Now how would I get a picture.... So with that I gave up.

Yah right... I was not leaving without a picture.  I ended up really giving up for about 5 seconds, to then have someone say look he is stuck at the cross walk.  I grabbed Mal and we sprinted over to take a picture with him.  Ahh.... relief. SUCCESS.  Gosh he is tall isn't he? I'm 5'9" if that says anything about this picture.

Welp that's all folks.  Met Alexander Skarsgard (i.e. Eric Northman from True Blood) and went to the same small party as him and danced with him (well at him - same thing).

Excuse my crappy picture... my iPhone served as my camera although especially at this point I'd much rather have my other, nicer camera! Oh well.  A picture is a picture when you are talking about one WITH/OF an actor/actress, right?

What a View

Day two of my NYC blog posts.  Still on day one of my trip.  You have to understand.... by the time I got into NYC late Thursday night, I was informed of a giant hurricane that was headed my way and was supposed to hit Sunday night.  Aside from my desire to actually witness a real live hurricane, I soon realized this could totally rain on my parade for my NYC vacay. With that thought in mind, Katie, Kara and I decided we better make the most out of the one day we knew we would for sure get to go out and about in the city before the storm hit.

We walked 100 miles.. well no not really. It was probably about five, but MAN my feet hurt.

*Note to self (and anyone visiting NYC): Walking around NYC in flip flops is just about the worst idea EVER.

After much back and forth, we finally decided to go to the tourist attraction "Top of the Rock." Now I have Katie and Kara to thank for being good friends about this.  Katie lives in NYC so no real reason to go to the top of this building, and Kara had recently visited NYC and did the tourist stuff so it wasn't on the top of her list of things to do this time around.  But with all of the rooftop bars closed until 5, which to me was just weird in itself, we had some time to kill in the afternoon.  So thanks ladies for doing that for me!

Want to hear something crazy?

These pictures were taken with my iPhone!!! I used the Camera+ App which is my favorite app EVER on the iPhone. I strongly suggest it.  This phone has completely replaced my small digital camera I used to carry everywhere with me in college.  Thank God for Apple.

A Walk in the Park

Central Park to be exact.

I told you I was going to give you little peeks into my trip to NYC this week since my schedule is crazy the next week with moving.  No... unfortunately there will be no pictures of the infamous "Hurricane Irene."  That woman has got some nerve getting me all hyped up, canceling my flight out on Sunday and not having anything to show for it (well in NYC that is).

Today I want to give you a fun little series of photos of our walk/hop in Central Park. I've never been to Central Park before and was excited to see it in person after seeing it in SO many movies.  It's huge and just as great as I had expected.  It looked so relaxing watching all the New Yorkers just hanging out in the park laying in the grass, playing with their dogs, and reading books on the park benches.  After walking around for a while we were needing to change things up a bit.  We opted to take some candid shots right there in Central Park.  Why not jump of benches and look completely ridiculous while onlookers gave us weird faces?

Fun stuff right? Yes.. if you are wondering... there were some dress malfunctions while jumping in the air and flying like birds!

Vacation? What Vacation?

That's how I feel right now.  It's almost Friday and I'm looking at the calendar thinking "Where the heck did June go?  How long has it been since I was in Vail? I can't believe it's already the 8th of July!"

Then I look back at some of the pictures I got this weekend which jogs my memory of how nice it was to have some time off and chillax with the BF and friends.

Where's LuLu?

VEGAS!!!! For now... I am actually sitting in the Vegas airport because I was not using my head when I was booking my flight to Denver the other week. In my mind, saving $20 was worth a layover, however, I was not realizing that I was flying OVER Denver to get to Las Vegas to sit for two hours in an airport. Yep... go ahead make fun of me.

So here I sit in the Las Vegas airport waiting for my connecting flight which is now delayed by an 45 minutes.... actually wait... they are giving an update... over an hour! Oopala!

To top it off... I convinced myself that I'd win BIG sitting in this airport and it would all pay off.

The result: -$12

That is almost how much money I was trying to save when booking this flight. Again... someone smack me!

I also managed to forget my camera cord to transfer pictures as I'm taking this weekend in Denver/Vail.  So I wanted to apologize in advance for the lack of posts coming up over the next few days.

Right now I'll leave you with a little piece of Vegas while I'm here :)

That's right... WHEEL.. OF...FORTUNE (or misfortune for me tonight!)

Have a great 4th of July weekend I'll be back soon!  If you're as lucky as me you'll have Monday AND Tuesday off which I am THRILLEd about!

Time for a Vacation

I know what you are all probably thinking... we just had a vacation (or at least I did) for the holidays. However, it IS pretty tough getting back on the horse sometimes and I am dying to ski this year.  It's been two years since I've been, and I made Walt promise we'd make at least one trip to Vail this Winter.  If he opts to go more than once he knows I'm game!

I got my packing done early last night, and got Walt's blessing on what to bring as far as ski gear goes since I ALWAYS either over-pack or under-pack and this time I HAVE to get it right so I don't freeze to death on the mountains.

Onto the more important things, I'm sad to say Mia will not be able to travel with me on our ski trip.  She refuses to take ski lessons and demands to go down blacks and I am simply not that great at skiing yet. After seeing that I was really leaving her behind, Mia thought she'd sneak into my suitcase without me noticing... sneaky little kitty!

On a different note, you will notice two key things for my trip to Vail. Pedialyte & a disposable camera. These are easily explainable... the Pedialyte is a trick I learned from Walt's brother that is supposed to save me from a hangover.  With the high altitude and the fact I KNOW I will have more than one glass of wine on my vacation, this is necessary.  I have tried it before and it works about 40% of the time.

Onto the second item, my disposable camera.  My last small digital camera finally kicked the bucket and I am too cheap right now to buy a new one, for it to just break again in two years, or for a cooler one to come out in a month (you know that always happens when you buy cameras and electronics), therefore I opting for a disposable camera I have had sitting in my junk drawer for over two years. Hope it works when we get on the mountains!!

Lastly, with being on vacation, I will get a little behind on both my daily posts and my training for ChasingDavies Challenge (I will feel the pain next week when I make up for it!!!).  I'm really hoping to get some great pictures this weekend to set me up for the weekend and make it up to you all.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Katie in Cabo

This past Thanksgiving my amazing mom took my sister Katie and me to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to change it up a bit. We stayed at the Riu Palace, which was a phenomenal all-inclusive resort right on the beach (I would highly recommend).

With such a beautiful view and a beautiful sister, I wanted to capture the moment when we were hanging out in the pool one day.  Katie and I waited FOREVER to take this picture since this area was a hot spot for people to enjoy the view.  After jumping in the pool almost immediately after the last person left, this is what I captured. I went through today and really wanted to show you all this picture since the view was amazing and really made me wish I was there right now!! I boosted the color a bit and sharpened the image to give the full affect in iPhoto.

On a separate note, for anyone that is interested in any of the images that I post feel free to reach out to me at lmajor9@gmail.com and I can send you a copy.

Additionally, if you ARE interested in printing a picture of your own onto a canvas, in yesterday's post I made a few suggestions of places to look.
