Babes.

You know when you are getting older when you friends are having kids left and right, right????

To sum it up, I left KC back in September and since then TWO of my friends had little babies. One was almost 6 months (ChasingDavies) and one was just four days old!  It's just crazy to me and it's also a reminder I am NOT there yet.  While their little babies were cute as can be, that much responsibility all rolled up into one is one heck of a scary thought.  I'll settle with getting a dog before I ever consider a kid :)

BUT...I loved soaking up their little baby faces while I had chance.

Introducing... Taryn Marie.  Four days old in these pictures.

And then there's Megan of ChasingDavies little babes, Liam just under 6 months.

The difference between the two besides the obvious gender differences...?

One I was afraid to sneeze or else I'd break her and the other I didn't (well sorta... a little.... but not as scary).  Maybe my kids should come out at age 3 when he/she is less breakable.

Check out the rest of the cuties --->

Happy. New. Year.

Here we are in 2012.  One year later after starting my very first blog.  I'm so glad I started this, giving me an outlet to speak my mind and share my fun stories with all of you. Thank you for being here with me and for following along.

Now, for a quick recap of my NYE weekend...

Seven friends and I headed to Winter Park, Colorado after renting a house on VRBO for the weekend.  Kara came up with this great idea this Summer when of course no one in their right mind is thinking about  their NYE plans, and got an AMAZING deal!

We got our fill of Catch Phrase, Jenga, Guesstures, beer pong, and card games.  So all and all A LOT of celebrating and caching up.  The whole weekend overall was a huge success.  Low key and a blast!

I hope you all had a great New Years and wishing you all the luck in the world in 2012!

Long Lost Lisa

This week was jam packed full of fun stuff! I got home from Louisiana after my mom somehow managed to fly me to Dallas, Tulsa THEN Denver instead of doing a non-stop flight or one stop flight to Denver.  One could only imagine what she was thinking booking this flight. Love ya mom but I will do the scheduling next time :)

After getting in Tuesday I had a quick dinner with friends to swap stories about Christmas.

Wednesday I picked up LisaLu and her BF and took her to some hot spots I've been wanting to try since I've moved to Denver.

Which brings me to today when I turned back around and brought Lisa and her BF BACK to the airport to head to L.A after a quick stop in Denver.

Boy am I exhausted! Waking up at 5:00 a.m. after a long night with Lisa proved to be worth it but exhausting.  I was so sad to see her go and made me miss my bestie. Next stop. Los Angeles.  So be prepared LisaLu!

Sorry for the graininess of the photo

Wino.

Apparently that is me lately :)  No I'm just kidding.  I will say that unemployment has given me the much needed rest, missing social life I've been needing since move to Denver.

Trust me I know that I have been neglecting this little blog here, and apologize.  Trust me on this when I say that it's probably for the best.  I wish I had new exciting stories and pictures to show you! Being cooped up in my house looking for jobs regularly doesn't really prove to be all that entertaining to anyone other than my cat.  She gets more attention now than EVER.  She loves it.

But with that being said, back to my first paragraph, I've begun balancing my "search efforts" with my social life.  In fact, last night I had girls night with some friends I met out here in Denver and some college friends that also happened to move out here.

Unbeknownst to us, we ended up at a close restaurant that had BOGO on wine and Tuesday Trivia. Both of those things are equally amazing. Mostly because the more wine we drank made some of us better at trivia (me not included...).  Overall though... a great, much needed night.

And yes.  Our table looked insane with all these wine glasses :)

Reckless Abandon Preview

Last week I caught up with some girlfriends from my sorority who just happen to live here now too! One was from here, and the other recently moved from Dallas shortly after I did. After months of trying to coordinate everyone's schedules we finally got together for happy hour. It was awesome catching up after so many years had gone by since college (well not so many - but enough to get lost in all the things that have changed since then). At HH, we decided we should do a cooking class with our friend Rachel, who happens to have her own blog,  Reckless Abandon, which is all about recipes and cooking.  Her recipes are easy understand and even better, easy to make (for the most part), so who better to learn to cook from in our new city.

With having to entertain family and friends more frequently with the holidays coming up fast and furious, what better time to learn how to cook yummy meals that won't break the bank then the NOW?!

We got together last night for a little cooking tutorial on how to make Rachel's spinach stuffed chicken with blistered tomatoes featured on her blog here.

It was super simple and VERY yummy I must say.  I just hope the next time I get around to cooking (which isn't really that frequently let's be honest), it tastes just as good!

Canvas & Cocktails

So this work life balance stuff is a lot harder than I anticipated.  By the time I get home I'm wiped out and finding time to blog has been a little more challenging than I'd like to admit. But here I am! I will NOT give up!

But trying to work on the "life" side of things, I wanted to mix up my weekend activities.  My friend Kara had showed me this place in Denver called "Canvas & Cocktails" a while back and thought it was high time I checked it out. After looking through their different canvases for the weekend, I made my decision! Sunday night painting the mountain lake canvas it was.

My friend Teale came along for the ride since she was also interested in what this place was all about. I mean drinking and painting.... what could be better?

You ask drinking and painting? Why yes! Basically you buy a canvas for $25-$35 and get paint, paint brushes, and a teacher.  The teacher stands up in front of the class and paints along with us telling us the step by step on how to paint the picture of the day. In between you get to listen to music, talk, and drink.  There is actually a bar in the shop! Teale and I each bought a bottle of wine and went to town on our artwork. Beautiful, right?

My painting on the right
If you are ever in Denver, I would highly recommend it as something fun to try out! Clearly we had fun :)  What do you think of our paintings?

Sadie Baby!

I'm not going to lie.... I'm pooped.

I am pretty sure the moving to a new city, starting a new and completely different job, and moving into my apartment has finally taken its toll on me. BUT.... I love you all so I am staying on top of my blogging.  I need some routine in my life and since working out hasn't been working out (no pun intended), I am looking to my blogging for some routine.

Keeping today simple today after going through my weeks of photos that I have been building up since I was MIA, I stumbled across this cute photo of my friend Katie (KJ's) puppy I housesat while I was staying at her place in NYC when she was out of town.  Her name is Sadie and she is a a cutie pie!

Giddy Up!

Remember how I said I had quite the busy past few weeks? Part of this was due to horseback riding in Estes Park with my friend Kara, her BF Chad, and Walter (my BF).

We saw a pretty good deal on Groupon a while back and thought it would be fun to mix it up and do something outdoorsy once Walt and I moved to Denver.  Little did I know when we planned this weekend that I'd be hot off my training session and not moved into my place.... That freak out moment aside when I realized all of that, it was a great decision to go horseback riding! It was peaceful (other than the horses taking enormous poops while walking on a skinny trail), and beautiful.

Kara even went the extra mile to reserve a cute little cottage for us to stay in for the night that was right up the street from The River Rocks Lodge (you may remember this hotel from "The Shining"), where we went to look around and have a  drink just to say we went there :)

Now onto my favorite part. The pictures!

Notice anything strange with this picture???

A Walk in the Park

Central Park to be exact.

I told you I was going to give you little peeks into my trip to NYC this week since my schedule is crazy the next week with moving.  No... unfortunately there will be no pictures of the infamous "Hurricane Irene."  That woman has got some nerve getting me all hyped up, canceling my flight out on Sunday and not having anything to show for it (well in NYC that is).

Today I want to give you a fun little series of photos of our walk/hop in Central Park. I've never been to Central Park before and was excited to see it in person after seeing it in SO many movies.  It's huge and just as great as I had expected.  It looked so relaxing watching all the New Yorkers just hanging out in the park laying in the grass, playing with their dogs, and reading books on the park benches.  After walking around for a while we were needing to change things up a bit.  We opted to take some candid shots right there in Central Park.  Why not jump of benches and look completely ridiculous while onlookers gave us weird faces?

Fun stuff right? Yes.. if you are wondering... there were some dress malfunctions while jumping in the air and flying like birds!

Awkward & Awesome First Timer

Lindsay and Me
Lindsay and Lisa
Me, Lindsay, Lisa (Crappy Picture Sorry)
*Please excuse the iPone pictures, I didn't want to haul around my camera at the Lil' Wayne

This is my very first week linking up for Awkward and Awesome Thursdays with The Daybook and I'm excited to try out something new on my little bloggy.

So here we go...

Awkward.

  • Every time I travel some random person always wants to strike up conversation with me.  Not sure what it is and if there is a stamp that only random strangers in an airport see, but it happens EVERY TIME. A man in the airport to NYC started to talk to me about the giant/scary security guy and then proceeded to find me and post up next to me while we waited for the plane to get there. I soon got up to get a water to avoid awkward conversation.
  • Along with the last point, I was also traveling last Friday very early and the woman behind me whacked me in the head and I was so frustrated with the delay we already had and then on top of it she hit me I just covered my face to prevent myself from exploding.  Guy next to me proceeded to tap me (with my earphones in) to make sure I was okay because he could sense my melt down.
  • Having to tell BF over half way to the airport that I forgot my cell phone at home and we had to turn around and get it....
  • Going take a drug test for my new job this morning, not realizing it would involve peeing in a cup so I peed right when I got up.  Get to the place, learn that I had to pee in a cup and not being able to go pee for 45 minutes (1 million cups of water later)... Let's just say I'm very hydrated now and I peed at least 100 times following my test!
  • In my interview last week the interviewer was flailing his arms all over the place as he asked me questions and I thought he was crazy until I noticed there was a small fly that kept flying in front of his face
Awesome.
  • Getting a new job AND moving to Denver, CO in a little over a week
  • The fact that as I type this right now I am headed to NYC to hang out with two of my best friends (holler KJ and Kara)
  • Finally getting the guts to tell off a rep who we do business with that has continuously been a jerk and talks to people like they are incompetent.  Little did he know he was going to wake the beast :) Let's just say he will be a lot nicer to my co-workers from here on out
  • Making friends with the leasing agent at my apartment so much that she helped me get out of paying $400 to have Mia (my cat) in the apartment and not having to pay pet rent... YES!!! The mola is going towards NYC trip now!
  • Finding out that Glee Season 2 is available on Netflix (not streaming in case your wondering)(recently got addicted when the BF was out of town for a couple of weeks)
  • My good friend Lindsay (shown above) got a new job in L.A and is moving tomorrow.. I'm sad to see her go and will miss her but she has a totally AWESOME job
  • Lisa getting Lil' Wayne tickets from 93.3's Steve Serrano last minute and celebrating Lindsay's new job by going to the concert
  • More awesome... I know about two songs he sings and the concert was still awesome... could have been the second hand high speaking though... JK ;)

Happy Happy Birthday Matt!

It was impossible for Matt (co-worker/friend) to NOT have a good birthday after the week/day he had.

He got a promotion yesterday (WAHOO) and he turns the big 3-0 this weekend!

Not only that he also bought a house recently and is about to get a puppy... shhh... we are working on easing him into this :)

So in order to celebrate his big birthday, we thought it would be a fun idea to get him a singing telegram.  When someone suggested this at first, I'm not going to lie, I thought it was a joke.  I mean how often have you ever heard some say that OR ever seen one? I never have! But heck, why not?

We requested a "Jane of the Jungle" telegram and asked for her to be conservative with her clothes since we do work in a big office after all. This is what we ended up with:

  1. A woman who is well beyond 45+
  2. Wearing a leopard leotard (with shiny nude tights and grandma sandals
  3. Who couldn't sing
It made me realize I could do this as a part time job if this lady could do it.  One of you probably could to considering I bet you are all better singers than both her and I combined!

Surprise Matt! We got you a 50 year old for your birthday!
Matt: What in the world is she planning on doing with that monkey?
Matt getting a monkey kiss
Jane giving matt a jungle hickey.... interesting!
Jane: Please marry me, no one will love my singing as much as you
Me Jane gonna rip this phone book
ARHHHH....
Jane: AHA I did it Matt: Holy crap did you see that?
This woman is a whackadoo

Birthday Boy!
Oh and P.S. yes you see Coors Light on his desk. He loves it and someone brought it as a birthday gift.

Happy Early Birthday Matt!

I Got a Turkey

No... not really.  But speaking in a bowling since I sorta did.

I had fun co-workers, laid back afternoon, and fun co-workers.

Today we had our "media outing," that being said our department had a little fun with just ourselves.

We headed over to Lucky Strike, which you may have heard of, to have a good time.

Other than my inability to roll a bowling ball, I had a fabulous time.  To brief you on my little outing I wanted to share a few photos..
