With the new year finally here, I have been thinking of how I could make this coming year different than the others. The first thing that came to mind were the things I should give up to make myself a better person, eat less junk food, add a filter to my mouth (my Nanna calls it my "natural mind"), quit being so lazy and actually force myself to go to the gym or for a run.... Obviously those are things that will eventually make me a better person, however, I wanted to also do something for myself that will make me FEEL like a better person.
I LOVE taking pictures and am always the friend who is snapping pictures with my camera and posting them to Facebook, but I wanted to take my picture taking to a whole new level. I opted to take a local photography class one night in Kansas City with my unused Canon G11 that I received as a gift way back in April 2010. I learned the generics of how to use my camera for the most part and came out with 4 pages of notes, however, needless to say, like in school, I took vigorous notes and failed to study them and apply them to better my photography skills.
A few friends of mine suggested that I start a blog and post a picture a day for the next year. At first I was hesitant, because while I love reading other people's blogs I didn't feel like I was passionate enough about anything to really put it out for the whole world to see. However, I do my best when I set goals for myself, and thought what a great way to FORCE myself to practice my skills of photography.
